Become a Game Leader

Game Leader Program

🚀Build confidence, develop leadership, and earn some pocket money!

Thank you to our amazing volunteer Joel, who have stepped up to run this valuable program for the 2025 Season. 👏

At CFFC, we believe in giving young players the opportunity to grow, lead, and be part of the game in a whole new way!

Our Game Leader Program allows kids aged 10-14 to referee U6/U7 MiniRoos games—helping them gain valuable skills while keeping the game fun and fair.

✅ Gain confidence in speaking to adults and younger kids
✅ Develop leadership & decision-making skills
✅ Learn responsibility in a supportive environment
✅ Earn some pocket money for your hard work
✅ Stay involved in football beyond playing

Game Leaders are a key part of our club, ensuring our youngest Falcons enjoy a smooth, fun, and fair football experience.

Step 1: Sign Up – Let us know you’re interested! We are only doing one in-take a season!

Step 2: Training & Support – You’ll receive guidance and training from our Game Leader Co-Ordinators, Leanne & Joel and Macarthur Referees Association
Step 3: Get Your Gear – You’ll receive a Game Leader shirt and will need to bring your whistle, notepad, and stopwatch.
Step 4: Referee Games! – Each week, we’ll send a message asking availability and try our best to schedule you a game based on your availability.

As a Game Leader, your job is to keep the game fun, fair, and flowing!

Here’s what you need to focus on:

Before the Game

✅ Check in at the Clubhouse – Meet the Match Official to pick up a match ball.

✅ Introduce yourself – Say hello to the Coach/Manager so they know who you are.
✅ Get the two team Captains to scissors-paper-rock to decide which way they will run.
✅ Check safety – Make sure all players are wearing shin guards and no caps.
✅ Player Check – Make sure teams have the right number of players on the field (4).

During the Game

⚽ Keep the game moving – Let play flow and give instructions on the run.
📢 Be clear & confident – Blow your whistle loudly so everyone knows you’re in control.
🙌 Encourage & support – Praise both teams and remind kids to have fun!

Rules & Game Restarts

  • Throw-ins & Restarts – The closest player should take the restart to keep the game moving.
  • Quick Restarts – Use “Ready, Set, Go” to help players make fast decisions.
  • No Goalkeepers – Encourage players not to stand in front of the goals.
  • Stay Back for Restarts – The opposing team should be at least 5 meters outside the penalty area during line re-starts and half way for goal line.
  • Understand Mini Roos U6 & U7 Rules

Teaching & Explaining Rules

  • If a player commits a foul, award a free kick and explain why so they learn.
  • Help players understand the rules as they play—be patient and supportive.
  • Always be enthusiastic, consistent, and approachable!

After the Game

✅ Return the Match Ball – Take the ball back to the Match Official or pass onto the next Game Leader.
✅ Collect Your Refereeing Fee – See the Match Official to receive your payment.

Remember: You’re not just a referee—you’re a leader, a teacher, and a role model. Keep it fun and help our young Falcons love the game! 🦅⚽

Game Leaders play an important role in fostering a positive football experience for our youngest players!

Hey Parents! While you’re watching your kids play, if you’re interested, we’d love some help with Ground Official duties. It helps keep the game running smoothly and safely for the kids. We offer a training at the start of the season so you’ll feel prepared to handle ‘conflict’ if needed. Volunteers are what keep the club going, so even an hour makes a big difference. No pressure—just a casual way to get involved and share the load. It doesn’t need to be every week, just as you can! Click Here if your interested in the training!
