CAMDEN FALCONS FC

Junior Football | Ages 12–18 | Mixed & Girls Teams

At Camden Falcons FC, our Junior Football program gives players aged 12 to 18 the chance to develop their skills, compete with confidence, and enjoy the true spirit of team sport. Whether new to football or already experienced, we offer both mixed and girls-only teams across all junior age divisions—from Under 12s to Under 18s.

Our program strikes the balance between healthy competition and personal growth. Players train weekly and compete in the Macarthur Football Association (MFA) winter competition, where matches are more structured, results are recorded, and team spirit is celebrated.

As players progress, pitch sizes, game formats, and match times grow with them—while our focus remains the same: fun, development, competitive and inclusion.

GAME FORMAT & COMPETITION STRUCTURE

Junior players at Camden Falcons FC compete in the Macarthur Football Association (MFA) winter competition. Matches are typically held on weekends, with home games at Belgenny Reserve and away fixtures across the Macarthur region. All games are played on full-sized fields under the guidance of official referees.

As players move into junior divisions, football becomes more structured—featuring 11-a-side formats, competition is now important, scores are kept and results tables are published. The only differences are the ball size and length of matches depending on the age group. Teams are placed in graded divisions based on ability, ensuring every player finds the right balance of challenge and enjoyment—whether playing socially or striving for a competitive edge.

Beginning in U12, girls must play in all girl teams, in an all girl competition.  (U12 Girls/Boys follow the u11 format field size).

CFFC has a very structured grading process to ensure that all players are competing in the most suitable divisions against players of a similar ability. There is opportunity for all players to trial for the Macarthur Youth League (MYL) for those players wishing to improve their skills and compete at the highest level of community football.

Players can expect:
GRADING

Grading is a key requirement to maintain player enjoyment.

Players playing at a level above or below their ability are less likely to enjoy the game and may also contribute to a lower level of enjoyment amongst their teammates.

Where possible, there should be no players of significantly higher or lower ability in a team as this can lead to the isolation of both types of players and restrict player development.

Grading is essential from U12 through to U18, as the opposition will have graded in preparation for MDSFA competitions.

Grading will be conducted at Belgenny Reserve if required.  The grading committee will make contact by email to advise of grading requirements.

Exact times for specific age groups and locations will be confirmed via our Facebook page.

TRAINING

Teams will usually train for about an hour one night each week, sometimes twice a week for MYL teams. Training at Belgenny Reserve, Nugget Beames and Onslow Oval, but your team training night and time will be allocated at the discretion of the club,  coach’s availability and parents’ ability to get the children there.  Training nights and times need to be determined and agreed to by the team as there are many teams to juggle field space for, over the space of the week.

We offer specialised training for our junior goalkeepers through-out the season to help grow their skills and confidence.

GAME LOCATIONS & GAME TIMES

Junior games are played on a Saturday, however MYL teams may also play on Sundays during the season and U16 & U18 Girls are played on a Sunday, anywhere between 9am and 5pm.

The time of games will depend on the field availability at the ground which you are playing and are generally between approximately 9am to 1pm, however, they can begin as early as 8.30am and run until as late as 3-4pm.

It is possible that your child’s team will play at any of the fields utilised by football clubs in the Macarthur area. (Campbelltown, Camden & Wollondilly).

UNIFORM

All Camden Falcons players are required to wear the correct match day uniform: Falcons jersey, Stanno black shorts, and Falcons socks (black with a red stripe). Junior players must also have a personalised sublimated Stanno match shirt; however, existing players only need to replace their shirt when necessary, not every year. Shirt numbers are coordinated by the Team Manager, though specific requests cannot always be accommodated due to team clashes. Stanno shorts ($20) and Falcons socks ($16) are essential for match days and can be purchased online or at club uniform days. Shin pads and football boots are mandatory for all players, and from age 12 and above, referees may prevent players from taking the field if their kit does not meet uniform requirements.

MFA TALENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Exciting opportunities exists for selected MYL Falcons players to be part of the Macarthur Football Association’s Talent Development Program (TDP). The TDP provides a high-performance training environment for U12–U18 players, led by accredited and experienced coaches. Running alongside club football, it gives players access to advanced training, competitive matches against other associations and NPL clubs, and skill-specific development sessions. The program not only supports individual growth but also creates a clear pathway for players aspiring to progress to higher levels of the game.

END OF SEASON RECOGNITION / PRESENTATION DAY

As players move into the Juniors (U12 and above), the game shifts to a more competitive level and the way we celebrate end of season achievements changes. Unlike MiniRoos, where every child receives a participation medal, Junior players are recognised through team and individual awards that reflect both their performance and their contribution to the game.

If a team finishes the season as Minor Premiers, they are invited to the Macarthur Football Association’s prestigious Premiership Awards Night at Wests Leagues Club to be formally recognised and take home the trophy. Teams that progress through to the Finals Series and finish 1st or 2nd also receive medals to acknowledge their efforts.

At our own Club Presentation Day, held in September at the Falcons Clubhouse, each Junior team presents a small number of individual trophies. These may include honours such as the Coaches Award, Players’ Player, Best & Fairest, or Golden Boot, depending on what best reflects the team’s journey and values. This is also the time when we recognise special milestones such as Long Service Awards for players who have been part of the Falcons for 5 or 10 years, as well as acknowledging those who have taken on Team Leader roles throughout the season.

In addition to team and individual recognition, the club also awards a number of perpetual trophies that are shared across all age groups. These include the C.G. Ferguson Shield for Best Performed Team, as well as trophies for the Most Improved Team, Most Consistent Team, and Encouragement Award. These honours celebrate not just results on the field, but also the teamwork, dedication, and spirit that make our Falcons community so strong.
